Meet The Founder

Hi there, my name is Sadiq Umar. You might know me as a virtual assistant, a virtual assistant coach, a YouTube content creator, or maybe just as a friend 🙂

Here are a few things you might not know about me.

I was born in 1993 and grew up with seven siblings. I studied at Kano State Polytechnic, where I graduated with a Diploma in Marketing in 2013.

After graduation, I taught at a primary school for a few months, then worked at an internet café before landing my first full-time job in 2015 as a Sales Representative.

I sold milk to kiosks and small shops, riding a motorbike under the sun every day, for two years before I was promoted and given a van instead. After four years in sales, I finally got promoted to an office role. At the time, it felt like a dream come true.

But I quickly realized it wasn’t the solution to my real problem.

Yes, I no longer had to spend hours under the sun. But I was still earning too little to properly take care of myself and my family. My father passed away on the very day I started working as a sales representative, and from that moment, I carried significant responsibilities.

In 2019, I started thinking, “What if there was a way to earn extra income outside my job?” Since my job required me to be present all day, getting a second job wasn’t an option. So I turned to the online world.

YouTube and Google became my teachers. I went through bad advice, unrealistic promises, and outright scams before discovering that freelancing was the best path for me.

I started on Freelancer.com, made plenty of mistakes, and ended up with a 50% negative review rate, which made it almost impossible to get new clients. I had to abandon the platform and start over on Fiverr and Upwork.

This time, I applied everything I had learned. I avoided my previous mistakes and focused on delivering excellent results. Eventually, I achieved Level Two Seller status on Fiverr and Top Rated status on Upwork, with a 100% Job Success Score.

Within four years, I quit my full-time job and became a full-time virtual assistant.

Experiencing how freelancing and virtual assistance changed my life gave me a deep sense of responsibility. I wanted to show Africans that there is a legitimate way to earn money online, without falling for unrealistic, misleading clickbait.

Over the years, I’ve tried many different ventures. Some failed. Some survived. Today, I earn most of my income working with clients as a virtual assistant, web designer, and consultant.

I also generate income through content creation and online courses.

That’s why I launched Afrinight Studios, to create a central hub for realistic, educational, genuinely helpful, and sometimes entertaining content that empowers African youth to pursue excellence and build meaningful careers in the digital world.
